  • COMMUNITY MOURNS LOSS OF BELOVED COACH KEN BAUM, 48

SYLVANIA, Ohio — The Southview community is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of longtime coach Ken Baum, who passed away at the age of 48 following a medical emergency.

According to school officials, Baum suffered a heart attack while teaching at Scott High School last Friday. Despite receiving emergency medical care, he sadly passed away days later on Tuesday, surrounded by loved ones.

Baum was a dedicated member of the Southview High School athletic program, where he spent years coaching football and was preparing to begin his first season as the junior varsity baseball head coach. He was also widely known in the Toledo area for his time as a varsity baseball coach at Bowsher High School.

Colleagues, students, and community members remember Baum as a passionate mentor who made a lasting impact far beyond sports. He was known for his commitment to his players, building strong relationships and always showing up for the right reasons.

A GoFundMe has been created to support his wife, Diana, and family during this difficult time.

💔 Rest in peace, Coach Baum. Your legacy will live on through the many lives you touched.

🙏🏾 Please keep his family, students, and the Southview community in your thoughts and prayers.
