Four Suspects Arrested in LaPlace Homicide Case

Authorities have arrested four individuals in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month in LaPlace.

According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened on March 13, 2026, near Williamsburg Drive and Bedford Drive. The victim, Jackie Dempsey Jr., 27, was found sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that Dempsey was the intended target of the shooting.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives identified four suspects:

  • Cameron Harvey, 19, of Westwego
  • Bryson Jason, 17
  • JaJuan Jason, 18 (cousin to Bryson)
  • Roal Phillips, 19, of Marrero

Authorities noted that neither the victim nor the suspects have known ties to St. John the Baptist Parish.

Bryson Jason and JaJuan Jason were taken into custody in Jefferson Parish on March 18, while Roal Phillips was arrested in New Orleans on March 20. Cameron Harvey was later apprehended on March 25 in Jefferson Parish.

All four suspects are currently being held in the parish jail in LaPlace and have been charged with second-degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm. Bonds for Bryson Jason, JaJuan Jason, and Roal Phillips have been set at $205,000 each, while bond for Cameron Harvey has not yet been determined.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
