A Connecticut man has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of an off-duty Bridgeport firefighter in Stratford.
Authorities say 41-year-old Jabari Bush has been charged in connection with the death of Terrence Cramer, 41, who was shot early Saturday morning on Feeley Street. Police responded around 1:45 a.m. and found Cramer suffering from a severe gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later that day, Bush was apprehended in Derby, Connecticut, following a brief vehicle pursuit. He now faces multiple charges, including murder, home invasion, and criminal possession of a firearm. Officials say he is being held on a $2 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 30.
Cramer had served nearly a decade with the Bridgeport Fire Department and was widely respected for his dedication and service. Acting Fire Chief Lance Edwards described him as a committed firefighter and valued member of the department.
Bridgeport Mayor Joseph Ganim also honored Cramer, calling him a proud public servant whose loss will be deeply felt across the city. Members of the firefighters’ union Local 834 paid tribute as well, noting his professionalism, character, and the strong relationships he built throughout his career.
Cramer is survived by his two sons, and colleagues remember him as a devoted father and a dependable friend who left a lasting impact on those around him.
