Missing Missouri Woman Melissa Oelke Found Dead in Illinois; Investigation Ongoing

The search for a missing St. Peters, Missouri woman has ended in tragedy after she was found dead in Madison County, Illinois.

Authorities identified the victim as 21-year-old Melissa Oelke, who was last seen leaving her home around 7:30 a.m. on March 26. According to police, she left without her cellphone and did not inform anyone where she was going.

Investigators were able to track parts of her movements through surveillance footage. She was seen at a Target store on Mid Rivers Mall Drive around 8:04 a.m., later at a Schnucks in Chesterfield at approximately 8:44 a.m., and then at a Walgreens in Florissant later that morning.

Her vehicle was eventually discovered abandoned around 12:30 p.m. along Keck Road in St. Jacob, Illinois. Authorities noted unusual circumstances at the scene, including her keys found in the grass and her dashcam missing.

Following an extensive search involving multiple agencies, Oelke was later found deceased in Madison County. Police have stated that, at this time, foul play is not suspected, and there is no known threat to the public. However, the investigation remains ongoing.

During the search, family members had shared emotional updates, describing her clothing and unique handmade purse while pleading for information and prayers for her safe return.

Authorities continue to ask anyone with information, including dashcam or surveillance footage, to contact the St. Peters Police Department as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
