Authorities also confirmed that an 8-month-old child was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting. The infant sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released after receiving treatment.

The investigation remains ongoing, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
