    Clifton’s mother, Tasha Morris, said her son had been missing for three days before she found the vehicle herself while searching the area.

    His death adds to a series of devastating losses for the family. Morris previously lost 18-year-old Anthony Morris, who was shot and killed in 2016 following a dispute. In 2020, another son, Demiris Kerr Jr., died after being shot and later dropped off at a hospital.

    The family also lost 10-year-old Deshaun Swanson, Morris’s nephew, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in 2015.

    Community leaders, including Charles Harrison of the Ten Point Coalition, are urging anyone with information to come forward.

    “She’s been a huge person to our community,” Rockenbach said. “She’s very well known within the community. She has several clients that come on a daily basis. It’s certainly heartbreaking for our entire community and for her family.”

    Following his disappearance, his daughter Wendy Davis launched an extensive search effort and helped create a Facebook group called “Find Dan Davis.” Volunteers and community members joined organized searches across the surrounding area while reviewing surveillance footage that tracked some of Davis’ movements through Blue Island.

    Davis was known by coworkers as a longtime lighting technician at the bar and was described by staff as “family.”

    In a statement released after his body was found, Wendy Davis thanked the many volunteers, law enforcement officers, and search-and-rescue teams who assisted in the months-long effort to locate her father. She described him as a “goofball” who filled their lives with laughter and said the overwhelming support from people around the world helped sustain their family through the painful search.

    Preliminary information indicates that a blue vehicle struck the motorcycle and then fled the area, leaving the rider seriously injured. Police believe the vehicle involved in the crash left the scene immediately after the collision.
