    A tragic school shooting at Hill Country College Preparatory High School in Bulverde has left a teacher hospitalized and a 15-year-old student dead, authorities confirmed.

    According to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m., shortly before the start of the school day. Investigators say the student opened fire inside the school, striking teacher Stephanie Ruvalcaba, who teaches Social Studies and Advanced Placement Government.

    Responding deputies reported that the student later died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

    Ruvalcaba was transported to a hospital in San Antonio for treatment. As of the latest update, her condition has not been publicly released.

    Sheriff Mark Reynolds stated that the situation was quickly contained and did not escalate into an active shooter scenario.

    The campus was immediately placed on lockdown, and students were safely evacuated. They were later transported to Bulverde Middle School, where they were reunited with their families.

    Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers, assisting local authorities in the response and investigation.

    Hill Country College Preparatory High School, part of the Comal Independent School District, was placed on lockdown during the incident. School officials later announced that classes would be canceled the following day, with counseling services made available to students and staff.

    Investigators have not yet determined a motive, and the case remains under active investigation.

    This heartbreaking incident has deeply affected the community, as families, students, and educators continue to process the tragedy.
