Missing Illinois Bar Employee Dan Davis Found Dead After Months-Long Search

The body of a man who went missing late last year after leaving a suburban Chicago bar has been found, bringing a months-long search to a tragic end.

Authorities confirmed that Dan Davis, 59, a longtime employee at 115 Bourbon Street, was discovered Monday afternoon near the 3300 block of Wireton Road in Blue Island.

Davis had been missing since November, when he was last seen leaving the bar around 1:15 a.m. in Merrionette Park. Earlier that night, he had reportedly been involved in a car accident and was later dropped off at the bar by police after declining medical treatment. Body camera footage showed Davis appearing unsteady and nearly slipping on a curb after being dropped off.

Following his disappearance, his daughter Wendy Davis launched an extensive search effort and helped create a Facebook group called “Find Dan Davis.” Volunteers and community members joined organized searches across the surrounding area while reviewing surveillance footage that tracked some of Davis’ movements through Blue Island.

Davis was known by coworkers as a longtime lighting technician at the bar and was described by staff as “family.”

In a statement released after his body was found, Wendy Davis thanked the many volunteers, law enforcement officers, and search-and-rescue teams who assisted in the months-long effort to locate her father. She described him as a “goofball” who filled their lives with laughter and said the overwhelming support from people around the world helped sustain their family through the painful search.

Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
