Authorities are investigating a deadly early morning shooting that left one man dead and two others injured on March 23, 2026.
According to the Independence County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 3:20 a.m. to a shooting on Brown Lane, where they discovered one victim deceased at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Adam Combs, who, according to reports, died from a gunshot wound. Two additional individuals were also involved in the incident.
One of the victims, Caroline James, was transported to a hospital in critical condition and is currently receiving treatment. Another individual, Gunner Riggs, was also reportedly injured but is expected to survive.
Investigators have identified Christopher L. Johnston (born 1978) as a person of interest in the case. Authorities say he was last seen in the 1600 block of Bethesda Road, and efforts are ongoing to locate him.
Officials have not released full details regarding what led up to the shooting, and no arrests have been announced at this time.
