    Three Teens Charged with Murder in Fatal Shooting of 15-Year-Old Noah Mekhi Cheeseman in James City County

    Authorities in James City County have charged three teenagers in connection with the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Noah Mekhi Cheeseman.

    According to the James City County Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 6:32 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Dehaven Court. When they arrived, they found Cheeseman suffering from a gunshot wound.

    He was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

    Police have charged 18-year-old Omari-Ahmad T. Martin of Williamsburg, along with a 17-year-old from York County and a 16-year-old from James City County. All three are facing charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The two juveniles also face additional charges of possession of a firearm by a minor.

    Martin is being held without bond at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, while the two younger suspects are being held at the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.

    Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation involving the victim and the suspects, and have described the incident as isolated.

    Police Chief Mark Jamison extended condolences to the victim’s family, calling the incident a tragic and senseless act of violence.

    The investigation involved assistance from multiple agencies, including the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office K9 unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

    Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police or submit anonymous tips.
