Authorities in Gulfport are continuing to investigate a tragic shooting that left two people dead and another injured Tuesday afternoon at a local gas station.

According to Gulfport Police, officers responded just after 1:30 p.m. to the Walmart Neighborhood Market gas station on Highway 49 North after reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Police confirmed that two victims later died from their injuries, while a third victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where they remain in surgery.

One of the deceased victims has now been identified as 29-year-old Shaquari Smith, who was also known online as UnothaTruth Llmon.

Authorities say one person has been detained in connection with the shooting, though investigators have not yet released additional information regarding what may have led to the incident.
