A shooting in Shreveport’s Sunset Acres neighborhood left a 7-year-old girl injured late Friday night after gunfire erupted on Wagner Street. According to the Shreveport Police Department, officers responded to the scene around 12:15 a.m. following reports of multiple shots fired in the area.
Authorities said the child, identified as Lyrica Saniya, was struck during the incident. Initial reports indicated she suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, but family members and witnesses later stated the young girl was shot in the chest. Emergency crews from the Shreveport Fire Department provided medical assistance before she was transported for treatment.
Residents in the neighborhood reported hearing more than 20 gunshots and believe the shooting may have been a drive-by attack. Multiple police units remained on the scene for hours gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and searching for information related to the shooters.
