Victims Identified in Deadly Double Shooting on Detroit’s East Side
Detroit police are investigating a targeted double homicide that left a man and woman dead Wednesday afternoon on the city’s east side. The victims have been identified by family and community members as Rita Kholdd and Oilbase “Deadzoneraye DaGoat.”
According to authorities, officers responded around 1:48 p.m. to the 9600 block of McKinney Street after a ShotSpotter alert detected multiple rounds of gunfire near I-94 between Whittier Avenue and Berkshire Street.
Police say officers arrived within minutes and discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the shooting was targeted based on evidence collected at the scene, including the location of shell casings and where the gunfire was directed.
Authorities say the victims were found near two vehicles parked in a residential area when the suspect reportedly approached and opened fire.
A 1-month-old child discovered in the back seat of one of the vehicles was unharmed. Police say the infant was safely taken into protective care and is expected to be reunited with family members.
At this time, no suspect information has been released as detectives continue reviewing surveillance footage and investigating what led to the deadly shooting.
Prayers for the families, loved ones, and everyone affected by this tragic loss. 🕊️
