A serious motorcycle crash near Cordova Thursday morning left one man fighting for his life and another person detained, according to Memphis Police.

Authorities said the two-vehicle accident happened around 7 a.m. near the intersection of Walnut Grove Road and Germantown Parkway. Emergency crews rushed to the scene after reports of a collision involving a motorcycle.

Photos captured at the scene showed the motorcycle overturned on its side as officers investigated the crash area.

The victim has since been identified as Walt Cooper. Police say he was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition following the collision.

Officials also confirmed that one person was detained at the scene, though no additional details about possible charges or what led to the crash have been released at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue gathering information about the circumstances surrounding the accident.
