A 33-year-old man, identified as Charles Johnson Jr., has died following a shooting at Clanzel Brown Park in Jacksonville, Florida, Wednesday evening.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to the park shortly before 6 p.m. on September 16 after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound.

Johnson was rushed to a local hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.

Investigators said the shooting followed an argument involving Johnson and another man while a group was playing basketball at the park. According to witnesses, the suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm during the confrontation and shot Johnson before leaving the area.

Detectives quickly began working to identify the person responsible. Authorities said investigators used witness statements and surveillance footage to help build their case.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified 22-year-old Jayden King as the suspect. King was located and taken into custody less than six hours after the shooting. He was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with Johnson’s death.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details about what may have led to the confrontation.
