A 38-year-old man has died after being shot in a drive-by shooting on Chicago’s West Side Saturday afternoon.

Chicago police said the shooting happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the 3000-block of West 18th Street in the Lawndale neighborhood.

According to police, a vehicle pulled up to a man who was in an alley before someone inside the vehicle opened fire. The victim was struck multiple times, including in the face, stomach and leg.

The man was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition following the shooting. Despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 38-year-old Juan A. Vicente.

Area detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and working to determine who was responsible. Authorities have not publicly announced any arrests or released information about a possible motive.
