A 19-year-old Muncie, Indiana man has died following a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in rural Dearborn County, according to Indiana State Police.

Troopers from the Versailles District responded to the crash shortly after 6:00 a.m. in the 8900 block of East State Road 350 near Aurora.

Police said a 2003 Chevrolet truck driven by 19-year-old Trent J. Laudermilt of Muncie was traveling eastbound when it struck a disabled 2008 Chevrolet truck that was parked unoccupied along the roadway.

Following the collision, Laudermilt’s truck struck a guardrail before traveling down an embankment. Jeffrey Cole, 19, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was ejected during the crash.

Cole suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office. His family has been notified.

Laudermilt was transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators determined that neither Laudermilt nor Cole was properly restrained at the time of the crash. Toxicology results for Laudermilt remain pending, and the investigation is ongoing.

State Road 350 was closed for more than four hours while authorities investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
